Just a quick post for those who are using Hyper-V in either Server 2012 R2 or Windows 8.1 (Client Hyper-V). The feature previously known as ‘Snapshot’ is no longer present – it has been replaced by the term ‘Checkpoint’.For those that did not know, this allowed for virtual machines to be returned to a previous state if an update etc. adversely affected a virtual machine. It is not a replacement for a full backup, but is very useful in lab environment like mine below:- Presumably this rename of technology has been done to bring some similarity between System Center Virtual Machine Manager’s naming convention and standalone Hyper-V. Interesting nonetheless eh? Neil
